Along with every other girl that was 17 in 2008, I thought I was the queen of denim skirts. I had the cutest cutoff skirt that I paired with my favorite cowgirl boots and wore to a country music festival. A few years later I found myself looking back at those photos and cringing. I honestly NEVER thought denim skirts would make their way back…but here they are. And here I am, wearing a denim skirt. I’ve grown up a little though. This one would actually pass the high school dress code (haha you know you wore ‘em short back then, too).
It took me months of convincing to actually cave and buy a denim skirt. Almost all of the bloggers that I follow were styling denim skirts back in the spring and I just could not bring myself to buy one. Then I spotted this classic Levi skirt and I knew I had to have it. I bought it specifically for the Texas Longhorn game against OU. We Texas Exes refer to it as “OU weekend”, and it is essentially the Christmas day of Texas football. OU is our BIGGEST rivalry and we live to beat this team each year. We lost this year though, so enough about that.
Skirt: Levi’s | Sweater: Chicwish | Boots: Nordstrom | Bag: Barrington Gifts | Earrings: Kendra Scott
My favorite quality of this skirt is the tasteful length. Unlike my denim skirts from my teens, I know my dad would let me out of the house in this one. I got a little playful and paired it with my over-the-knee boots from Nordstrom. I love how the photos of this outfit turned out.
Skirt: Levi’s | Sweater: (similar) Dillards | Scarf: Daisy Faye Designs | Booties: Nordstrom | Wedding Band: Everly Rings
The second look I styled in this skirt is definitely Longhorn inspired. Daisy Faye Designs was so sweet to send me this plaid cowl scarf! When I opened it in the mail I knew exactly which sweater I wanted to pair it with. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will have at least one game this season cool enough to wear this and not sweat!
