Favorite Pregnancy Products: Updated

Sharing a second edition of my favorite pregnancy products. I’m including the products from my previous post (shared early into my second trimester), and some new products that I’ve come to rely on. Read my first post about pregnancy products here.

We have just entered into week 27 of this pregnancy journey. Bye bye honeymoon phase (second trimester). These days I’m relying on special pillows and belly-covering leggings. What would I do without these things?!

Boppy Side Sleeper Pregnancy Pillow

Since about week 14 I have trained myself to be a side sleeper. Sleeping on my stomach is not an option anymore, and sleeping flat on your back is not recommended during pregnancy. At first I was using a single wedge pillow under my belly (which I still use, see below), but I wanted one pillow that would give me belly and back support at the same time. A lot of people suggested getting one of those full body pillows, but thats just too much pillow for me. Keep in mind, I sleep next to a pretty large dude each night, so I’m not interested in filling the remaining bed space with an excessively large pillow. This side sleeper pillow has been awesome.

OCCObaby Pregnancy Pillow Wedge

This was the first specialty pillow that I purchased. This wedge provides great support for my belly at night. I also use it when I’m sitting on the couch in the evening while watching tv or working on my computer (my lower back thanks me). Now that I have the side sleeper pillow I’ve been using this one between my knees at night to relieve my hips.

Lululemon Align Leggings

Top: Target only $8 | Plaid Shirt: Similar on sale! | Leggings: Lululemon | Booties: Similar, Similar

These leggings were definitely a splurge at the beginning of my pregnancy, but SO WORTH IT. I already had a pair of these leggings in grey and they were amazingly comfortable as my belly was growing. They recently put a Lulu store in the nearest mall, so why not take advantage?! I’m so glad I got these leggings in black. They’re super stretchy and extremely light weight, so on warmer days when I still want to cover my legs I don’t burn up.

Other leggings that are part of my rotation include the Ingrid & Isabel Active Maternity Leggings from Nordstrom, and the Maternity Leggings in Seamed Ponte from LOFT.

Ingrid & Isabel Maternity Tops

Tank Top: Target | Cardigan: Target | Necklace: Baublebar | Sunglasses: Similar | Leggings: Lululemon

Tank top: Target | Cardigan: Similar | Leggings: Lululemon | Booties: Nordstrom | Glasses: Warby Parker | Bag: Barrington Gifts

I stocked up on some solid tops in white, black, and grey to wear with leggings and cardigans. These tops are really soft and the length is perfect for the belly. I wear these tops on rotation just like my maternity leggings. Adding these solid tops to my closet has helped me extend my regular wardrobe without breaking the bank. Target carries these in a tank, short sleeve, and long sleeve, and they come in tons of colors. I stuck to the basics.

Simple Modern Water Bottle

(Pic to come!)

It has been extremely convenient to keep my refillable water bottle with me at all times, especially when I go to bed. I make sure to fill this thing with ice water every morning before work, before I leave for errands, and before I go to bed at night. This bottle keeps water super cold! I love ice cold water, and this bottle helps me drink more of it throughout the day. It is vital to get enough fluid during pregnancy, so I highly suggest carrying around a refillable bottle like this. When I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I’m also extremely thirsty. By the time I wake up I’ll drink this entire bottle. We’re waking up twice a night to potty now. Thanks baby girl.

Books

We’re Pregnant! The First-Time Dad’s Pregnancy Handbook | Waiting in Wonder | What To Expect When You’re ExpectingWhat To Expect: The First Year

When I first got pregnant I hopped on Amazon and bought a pregnancy book for myself, and one for Milton. I figured he needs to learn about it as much as he can so he isn’t in the dark during this crazy time. His book, We’re Pregnant! The First-Time Dad’s Pregnancy Handbook, goes through pregnancy by the week and explains a lot of the symptoms and physical changes that a mother goes through during pregnancy. Something it does talk about enough: hormones and how they make your pregnant wife CRAZY and that it is totally normal (can you tell I’m venting?). I haven’t personally read this book, but Milton seems to be enjoying it. Waiting in Wonder by Catherine Larson was given to me by my friend Kendall, who had her first baby this past spring. I’m so thankful for this gift and her thoughtfulness. This book is a devotional that guides you through each week of pregnancy. My favorite part about this book is the constant reminder to invest in other relationships in your life, not just with the Lord, but with your husband as well. I’m still reading What To Expect When You’re Expecting, but not as heavily as I was earlier in the pregnancy. I was given What To Expect: The First Year in the birthing class that Milton and I took at the hospital. The nurses made a good point: we spend all this time educating ourselves on pregnancy and tend to forget that there is going to be a baby to care for at the end of it! Thankful for this book so far, even though I’ve just barely cracked it open.

Noodle & Boo Elasticity Oil

I need to buy another bottle of this stuff, ya’ll! Not a day goes by without me rubbing this stuff on my growing belly. I started using it before I was showing, and I haven’t stopped. So far…the stretch marks have been minimal, but I think that has been due to my steady weight gain as well. This is another clutch gift from Kendall!

Ovia Pregnancy App

I used this app religiously in my first trimester and into my second. I fell off for a little bit, but have recently picked it back up and find it to be beneficial. It feels very rewarding to track my exercise in this app (it gives you positive feedback for logging exercise!), and I stay on track with eating well and drinking enough water when I use the app daily.
