Goals aren’t really goals until they are written down. You can set a goal in your mind, but what makes it real? What makes you remember that goal? What makes you think about that goal every day? Writing it down. This post is me writing down my goals.
When I was working as a health coach I always encouraged my clients to make SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time sensitive. Here are seven things I’d like to accomplish in 2017:
- Train for a half marathon. I mentioned this goal on my Instagram feed quite a while back, but I let it fall to the wayside. I have a friend that just completed a half marathon with her boyfriend, and this make me want to pick it back up. I enjoy running. I find it therapeutic and the way it makes my legs look isn’t so bad. As of right now, I can run about 3 miles without stopping. I want to push myself to do more though!
- Do more yoga. Yoga is so good for the mind and soul. This will definitely be important while I continue to run and increase my distance.
- Support my husband in work and life. Any time Milton and I get frustrated with each other or get into a little tiff we like to remind each other that we are on the same team. So as his teammate, I want to be there when work is tough, life sucks, and he just needs someone to vent to.
- See my friends more often. A lot of my best girlfriends live in DFW, and my best friend since childhood lives in west Texas with her husband and 1 year old twins. This year I want to make it a priority to see them more. This sounds simple, but traveling across Texas isn’t exactly cheap. Milton and I hold our friends very close to our heart. This is something we save our money to do.
- Grow Cait and Co. Blog. I have absolutely loved putting time and effort into this blog. It is something that I have thought about doing for a couple of years now and I’m so glad I finally took the leap of faith to start it. However, sometimes I feel like I’ve hit a wall and I have nothing to share. I just have to remind myself why I started it in the first place.
- Save money. This is one of those goals that will forever be on my list.
- Travel out of the country. I have been out of the country only twice my entire life! Milton and I want to plan an awesome trip abroad before we start growing our family. We are leaning toward Thailand. Thoughts? Suggestions?
