What To Wear To A Black Tie Wedding

September 25, 2017 1 Comments

It is not very often that you attend a black tie wedding. Milton and I will be going to one this weekend, so I want to share what I plan on wearing to the occasion. Formal weddings can seem a bit intimidating and daunting when it comes time to figure out what you’re wearing. I want to make it seem a little easier though!

Remember those bridesmaid dresses you probably have tucked in the back of your closet? Well now is the time to pull them back out, because that is exactly what I will be doing this weekend. I wore this blue dress in a wedding a little over a year ago and made darn sure to hold on to it. I knew there would come a time for me to wear it again.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind when rewearing a bridesmaid dress. First, make sure the color won’t compete with the bride. My bridesmaids wore champagne dresses, which looked beautiful in pictures, but may not be the best choice to rewear since wedding gowns are made in different varieties of ivory and champagne. Sorry ladies, I know I didn’t do yall any favors there. Another thing to consider is what color the bridesmaids are wearing in the wedding you are attending. If you happen to know a bridesmaid, or even the bride, be sure to shoot them a text to make sure your dress isn’t the same color.

As far as jewelry, I like to go one of two ways. I either wear statement earrings and a dainty necklace (or maybe no necklace at all), or I’ll wear a statement necklace with studs. Don’t go overboard with your jewelry. You don’t wanna outshine the wedding party. For shoes, make sure to wear heels that look appropriate with the length of the dress. You don’t want to drag the bottom of your dress all over the dance floor, but you also don’t want to look like you’re waiting on a flood. This seems like common sense, but I just wanted to throw it out there anyway.

Have fun with your clutch! This furry clutch was a gift from a few years back, and I believe it is from Z Gallery. I have found some other fun clutches that would go great with most gowns.
