Hospital Bag for C-Section Delivery

March 17, 2019 Comments Off on Hospital Bag for C-Section Delivery

I want this post to be as helpful as possible for any soon-to-be mommas trying to figure out what the heck to pack for the hospital. I could have written this before having Caroline (because my bag was packed by week 37), but I didn’t really know if I had everything I needed! Also, at that time I didn’t know I would end up having a c section. So if you’re getting close to the end of your pregnancy and you don’t know what the heck to pack for a c section, this should be a good guide to get you started!

When packing mom and baby’s bag for the hospital I used a handful of resources. Initially, I read hospital bag posts by some of my favorite bloggers, took tips from my baby books, and had a few things I knew I wanted to pack. Once I knew I was having a c section I called my best friend Jessica and asked her what she packed for herself and baby. She’s done it twice now, with a total of 3 babies (yes, there’s a pair of twins in there), so she knows a thing or two.

Mom’s Bag

Button up night gown

Comfy undies (3 pairs)

House shoes

Coming home outfit (I wore joggers and a loose button up top)

Dry shampoo

Shampoo

Conditioner

Body wash

Face wash

Make up

Chapstick

Phone charger

Camera

Camera charger

Insurance cards

Nursing pillow – I actually didn’t pack one. Dumb. Wish I had because their pillows suck as far as using them to make nursing easier

Baby’s Bag

2 outfits per day

Swaddle

Socks

Hat

Mittens

Nail clippers

Lotion (travel size)

Nipple cream MUST HAVE

Baby book (for foot prints)

Blanket

Dad’s Bag

2 changes of clothes

Pillow

Blanket

Toiletries

Phone charger

Headphones

Things I packed and didn’t use

Nice robe – I thought I’d want this for pictures after having baby. I didn’t take any nice pics. I came in with makeup on but it seemed like it quickly rubbed or was cried off.

Blow dryer and curling iron – again, I thought I’d want to fix myself up after showering. Didn’t happen. Baby trumps everything.
