I want to start this post with a confession. Milton and I started using Netflix for the first time ever this month. Luckily we didn’t have to splurge for a subscription. His mom was nice enough to give us her password. We have never found the need to have Netflix at home. Milton and I are not big television watchers in the first place. He likes to watch the occasional episode of South Park (ugh, I know), and I only keep up with Fixer Upper and The Bachelor. Ok, I keep up with the Kardashians some too. So far we have been watching a lot of stand up comedy, and it has been so far. We’ve yet to start a series, though! I’m afraid that is a dark hole that we do not need to step into. Come Valentine’s Day, we might be on a hot date on the couch looking for the next thing to watch.
Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve have one thing in common: they never live up to the hype that we create around them. Don’t get me wrong, I love Valentine’s day. Pink is my favorite color, and it falls just two weeks after my birthday. I learned a long time ago that fighting the crowds to make your dinner reservation is not what I need to know that my man loves me.
So what is my ideal Valentine’s Day? Very simple… a frozen cheese pizza with a side of marinara sauce, a good glass bottle of red wine, and a cliche bouquet of flowers. That’s it! I’m even willing to trade the frozen pizza for a box of donuts. Whether I’m going out for dinner and drinks or staying in for the night, I still like to dress festive for this day of love. I shot this look back in December with the awesome Patricia Coskey. I bought this top to wear over the holidays, but I realized that I styled a super cute Valentine’s Day look pairing this red top with my pink Kate Spade bag. I snagged this top from H&M, and of course it went on sale right after I purchased it. If you’re anti H&M now (which I totally understand) I’m linking other romantic red tops from different retailers below.
Other Valentine’s Day
Come February 14th you can find me preheating the oven and cuddling with my cats. What’s your ideal Valentine’s Day? Or better, Galentine’s Day!?
