I have the country music cranked up right now…because it is almost time for RODEO HOUSTON Y’ALL! To help you get ready for the rodeo, I’m posting some of my favorite rodeo outfits from the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo earlier this year.
Now, I’m a little biased when it comes to rodeo time. Nothing beats the originality of everything that is the FWSSR. Come on, it’s called Cowtown for a reason! Needless to say, I’m still excited for rodeo season in Houston. For the first time I will be volunteering at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Gotta get ready for a solid eight hours standing and walking in boots. When I’m not volunteering, I plan on putting on my finest western gear and heading to the rodeos and concerts. If you’re a fellow Houston gal and have no idea what to wear to the rodeo, I got you! Pro tip: fringe and fur are always a yes.
Favorite Rodeo Looks
Coming in at number one is this Show Me Your Mumu dress with a fur vest. I wore this outfit on my birthday and felt fabulous! I’ve always been obsessed with Mumu’s floral prints. I topped it off with my high-shaft boots and vintage western purse. Don’t forget the statement earrings! My mom found this purse at a western resale shop, but I found some similar ones on Etsy and linked them below!
This next look is a little more western. Ok, it is a lot more western. Sometimes you gotta go all out with the leather and studs. This year I was determined to find the perfect cowboy hat, and I think I succeeded. Milton was sweet enough to buy me this Resistol hat for my 27th birthday. My jacket is Double D Ranchwear and was given to me by one of Milton’s aunts. I love awesome hand-me-downs like this. It was a cold day at the rodeo, so I styled this jacket with a white sweater and jeans. Had it been cooler I would’ve gone with a white blouse underneath. That is probably how I will style it at Houston if this weather ever warms up. I incorporated a little fur with this faux fur scarf. Shop similar jackets here.
This last look is a softer, spring-inspired look. Blush is going to be a neutral this season, and I am all for it. Underneath this light jacket I’m wearing my favorite camisole from Express. I bought it in three colors. It is the perfect piece to go from work to happy hour, or in this case…from rodeo to concert.
