Since moving to Galveston I have been asked by many friends about the best places to eat, shop, or just go to while in Galveston. This Galveston Travel Guide series is long overdue. I’m starting it today with the best shops on The Strand (in my personal opinion).
One of the most popular spots in Galveston is the Historic Strand District located in “downtown” Galveston. It is full of shops, restaurants, and some cool bars. If you don’t go to The Strand while you’re in Galveston did you even go to Galveston?
When Milton and I were dating he would help his dad out at the family seafood market on Saturdays. While he was working I would walk down the strand, sip my coffee, and window shop. This weekend I finally got the chance to do just that! Milton loves to help out at the seafood market on the busy weekends, so I take advantage of some me-time by shopping. I went into my typical shops and took notes via voice text on my phone. Yeah, I probably looked half-crazy to some, but I’m so excited about this post! Worth the funny looks.
Tola Mo’ Bettah Market
This is a super cute beach shop! Personally, I think this store has some of the best Galveston Island graphic t-shirts. They’re bright and have really clean and preppy screen prints on the back. You can also find those classic slip on beach sandals here for about $10. I bought myself a pair this weekend and took them off maybe once since then. I also found the cutest woven clutch with bright poms poms for only $36. I carried it on Easter Sunday to add the perfect pop of color to my white dress. They also carry a big selection of beach bags and name brand sandals like Sanuk.
Gracie’s
Probably my favorite shop for gifts on the island. They carry tons of awesome brands: Kate Spade, Ban.do, S’well, Natural Life, Simply Southern, Yeti, Life is Good, and so much more. I could easily spends hours and hundreds of dollars in here no problem. To make it even better…there is a monogram shop in the back.
Christmas On The Strand / Strand Brass
Yes, they have Christmas stuff year round! Last Christmas I bought my mom a cute blue crab ornament for her to put on her tree. I thought she needed a little island touch to think of me. They also carry other home decor and gift items. You’ll find brands like Tervis and Lilly Pulitzer here.
Emboldened Elegance
A great store to hit up when I’m looking for an outfit for a wedding or party. Some of my favorite brands that they carry include Show Me Your Mumu (need I say more?) and Z Supply. So if you’re on the island and you didn’t pack enough, head here! You can shop from Emboldened Elegance online, too!
