Hospital Bag for Mom

As of today I am just over 38 weeks pregnant with baby sister! My hospital bag is packed and ready to go. This time around bag looks slightly different thanks to experience and a little more research. Keep reading to see what I packed in my hospital bag for mom.

Last pregnancy I shared my hospital bag contents after I got back from the hospital. This made more sense to me so I could share with you the things I actually used and what I wished I had packed for my hospital stay. Caroline was born via planned cesarean section, which allowed me to pack my bag under less stress. This also meant that my hospital stay looked a little different than that of a vaginal birth or emergency cesarean. Read my post on Hospital Bag for C-Section Delivery. This pregnancy I have planned to try for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). Therefore, I have packed items with labor and recovery in mind.

I have only done a little research on what to pack for labor. I have enjoyed following Mommy Labor Nurse on Instagram and have found her resources to be helpful and straightforward. Check out her blog here.

Keep in mind, this is not an extensive list. I have not included items like toiletries and such. A few things to note: I am not packing underwear because I wore the hospital’s disposable undies the entire time and when I went home. I listed a cheap back massager to the list, but I actually have two tennis balls in a tube sock to use as a massager during labor (an even cheaper option). I have a mix of tight and loose bottoms packed for after delivery. I’m not sure what I will prefer to wear after I deliver since it will be so different than last time.

I will publish a separate post about my hospital bag for baby. This bag is very simple, but worth a share. Keep an eye out for it later this week (that is, if I don’t end up going into labor).
