I’m taking a break from the regular blog posts and sharing a more personal life update today. As most of you know, Milton and I moved to Galveston back in August for his new job. Unfortunately, I was not able to keep my job from Austin. Luckily, I have the blog, so I’ve been staying as occupied as possible with that while searching for something new here on the island.
I’ve spent the last five months scouring the web for a job that seemed to fit what I was looking for. While I’ve been reading all kinds of articles and tweets that the Texas job market is the best it has been in years, this didn’t seem like the case for me. I was being very picky with my search, though. I didn’t want to just jump on the first thing available. What if I took a job and ended up hating it?!
After months of perfecting my resume and writing many cover letters, I have finally accepted a job offer. Starting on Friday I’m going back to the 9 to 5 grind. Cait and Co Blog will still be up and running though! I started the blog while working full-time, and honestly found more inspiration for content when my days were more structured. I believe getting back into the workforce is going to be great for the blog and will provide me with lots new and exciting content to share with everyone.
The biggest thing I have learned over the past few months is patience. My patience has been tested in so many ways. I have found that if I practice patience and trust in God’s plan that everything’s going to work out the way it is supposed to. I definitely had days where I thought it was worthless trying to apply to jobs. It sucked to be constantly turning my wheels and put myself out there and get nothing in return. Other days I would be extremely motivated and apply to any job I could find!
I took advantage of this break in employment to start volunteering locally. I would spend a few hours each Thursday at the Ronald McDonald House of Galveston. This was such a great way to get out and meet more people on the island. It also gave me a lot of confidence going into my job interview. And, as you know, I also spent a lot of time running. I completed my first half marathon yesterday! I’ll be posting later this week about my experience.
Along with this new job I’m pretty excited to revamp my work wardrobe. I found this dress at Nordstrom last week before I got my job offer. I suppose I had faith that the job might be mine, so I bought this perfect work dress in two colors. The length is very work appropriate, and the loose fit makes it so comfortable. I’ve also purchased some new slacks and work tops from express. I’ll be sure to share those looks on the blog soon.
