Let’s get a little personal today. Every now and then I scroll through Facebook to see what my friends and family are up to. A lot of my friends are going through the same life changes right now, whether it be an engagement, marriage, pregnancy, or chasing after babies. One evening an excerpt from a blog caught my eye. The headline read, “Stop Being a Butthole Wife.” Damn. It spoke to me and I just had to click on it.
I’ve been married for about three months now and I would like to think I’m doing a good job as a wife, but there is always room for improvement. However, it can be frustrating when you find yourself constantly cleaning up after your husband. It’s so easy to nag and complain every time you find a dirty dish on the coffee table and not in the sink. Well this wife (Debbie Wilkins Baisden) had something to say about that…stop being a butthole wife!
My favorite line from her post reads, “Marriage is designed to be a reflection of Christ’s love for his people.” If I had to explain in one sentence why Milton and I married each other, that would be it. We want to show our friends, family, and the rest of the world how much God loves his children through our love for each other. Let these little annoyances be a reminder of how lucky you are to receive the love of your husband. If you’re a wife, a fiancé, or even a girlfriend, I suggest you take a moment for this read.
