Pregnancy Update: 7 Months

January 14, 2019 Comments Off on Pregnancy Update: 7 Months

I realized today that the format in which I’m sharing my pregnancy updates my be a little confusing. While the title of the update is “7 months”, I’m actually 8 months pregnant today (33 weeks). I titled the update 7 months because it covers weeks 28 through 31, which was my seventh month of pregnancy. Make sense? Because I’m not going to go back and change it now, lol.

28 Weeks

Monday morning I woke up and my left foot was kind of hurting on the inside of my foot. So I took off my house shoes to kind of started rubbing the area and noticed some spider veins. Ouch. Honestly, I had to Google spider veins to make sure that’s what they were. I definitely started having Braxton Hicks this weekend. Milton and I were riding in the car to have lunch with his family and I noticed my stomach muscles kind of tightened. It didn’t really feel like contractions, but what did I know because I’ve never actually had contractions before. Then I looked up Braxton hicks in one of my books and it was exactly what I was experiencing.

In hindsight, I could have been dehydrated. A nurse at my doc’s office told me that when the baby kicks and you’re a little dehydrated, the muscles in your uterus contract in the area that the baby kicked. I think I’ve had a few actual Braxton Hicks (and they were very irregular), but most of the tightening was probably from baby girl throwing punches. Thanks, doll.

29 weeks

The best way to describe the way I feel right now is “very pregnant”. It’s like I woke up one day this week and the third trimester just decided to slap me in the face.

30 weeks

This week we brought home baby’s crib (my old crib) from my parents house and set it up in her room. It feels good to be getting things ready for her, and I think it is helping me mentally prepare for what’s to come. Every now and then I think to myself, “You’re about to have a baby, a new life that you are completely responsible for,” and it kind of scares the crap out of me. I know God would never put me in a situation that I cannot handle, but this is kind of a big deal!

The swelling is here to stay it seems like. I have to admit though, I have not been as physically active as I would like to be though. I know getting in more exercise would help manage the swelling and water retention. We’ve also been on the road a lot (Christmas), which is a big contributor.

This week it feels like baby might be moving south a bit. By the end of the day the belly discomfort is not a joke, and there is pressure in new places now.

31 weeks

Experiencing some joint pain, and a little bit of fatigue. I am also still swelling. Even my cheapo big ring is starting to get tight. After talking to my best friend, Jessica, about my joint pain I realized that I might have some mild carpel tunnel in my hands. When I wake up in the middle of the night to take a drink of water it hurts so bad to grip the bottle cap and unscrew it.

The acne on my chest and back has still been hanging around. I finished my bottle of Neutrogena body clear body wash and went back to my regular Dove bar soap. The special body wash was not making any difference in my acne, and I honestly feel like my body is responding to the bar soap better. Shouldn’t have switched in the first place, but oh well! I’m still using my Neutrogena face wash though. The acne comes and goes, but I have excepted at this point and I’m not too worried about it anymore.

TMI ALERT: I started iron supplements maybe two weeks ago. As if the constipation wasn’t already bad enough, this has made it worse. Each morning I have one cup of coffee to help get things moving. That was working well before. With approval from my doc, I make myself a nice cocktail of Miralax and Fresca each night to relieve the constipation. It’s made a big difference. I also keep baby wipes in the bathroom. I like feeling as clean as possible.

Weight Gain

At the end of week 31 my total net gain was 25 pounds.

Exercise

During this month of pregnancy I made a point to do more cardio (except for the week of Christmas) and also incorporated some body weight exercises. I have even taken some light dumbbells to work to do some arm exercises. These arms are in for a rude awakening when baby comes, so I’m trying to prep myself.

Maternity Clothes

I have still been surviving on about three pairs of leggings. Milton bought me another pair of the Lululemon Align pants, so that adds another to my rotation. I have actually made a point to look into tops that are nursing-friendly, and some pajamas that will be comfortable in the hospital. I have talked to many moms that have said you will want to put on real clothes and get out of the hospital gown.
