I hope everyone is doing well and hanging in there! Naturally, I have fallen victim to some of the sales that have popped up due to covid-19. I am sharing some recent purchases that I have made during quarantine.
Ikea Children’s Chair
I surveyed my instagram mom friends not long ago to see what children’s chairs to get for Caroline. She has the Skip Hop activity center and she now gets the most use out of the table function, but I think the chairs intended for the table are not very cute (picky much?). At first I looked into mini acrylic chairs. How stinking cute would those be for Caroline?! I ended up finding a “mini” version on Amazon, but I read the description and they’re only six inches tall. Maybe Caroline’s future Barbies can use them. One mom suggested the Ikea children’s chair. It is called the Mammut and is only $14.99. It comes in white, blue, red and pink. Any guess which color I ordered? They haven’t come in yet, but when they do I’ll share them on my insta stories.
DIY Dip Powder Kit
Y’all, I got desperate. I have not gotten my nails done in a long time, but I was really craving a dip manicure so I bought a DIY kit from Amazon. I bought the Nicole Diary Dipping Powder kit complete with all of the different bottles of different solutions (read: probably toxic chemicals) and five different powders. I like neutral colors, and this kit came with a white, gray, pink, and other light colors. The reviews were not that good with just three stars and 1,500 ratings, but I bought it anyway. The kit was $26 (now $30 on Amazon). Instant mistake. They looked decent the first time I did them, but I could not get the top coat to look shiny. It only lasted for about three days. I was honestly excited to try it again and use a different color. The second time around I spent more time buffing them and the top coat turned out better. Again, they lasted about four days and started to pop off. I’m thinking buying a different kit soon to see if it lasts longer. Moral of the story, don’t buy this.
Fabric for Baby Bows
During Mardi Gras I wanted to find a purple bow for Caroline to wear to the parade. I couldn’t find the right purple anywhere! Everything I was coming across was too pastel and I wanted a deeper purple. I found some purple fabric on Amazon and bought a yard of it to make my own bow for Caroline. It’s the same kind of four-way-stretch fabric that popular baby brands used to make head wraps and oversized bows. There turned out to be enough fabric to make about ten bows. I gave some of them to Caroline’s friends and then I have sold a few on Poshmark (some are still available if you want to take a look). During quarantine I decided I would get two more colors for Caroline, and I bought white and hot pink. I am obsessed with the hot pink. I also ordered some alligator clips to make some smaller clip bows.
Madewell Shorts
Nordstrom was offering 20% off at the beginning of quarantine and you know I couldn’t resist. I have really loved my Madewell jeans, and I figured I would love the denim shorts just as much. It took a couple of different styles to find the pair I like. You can find them here. They aren’t on sale anymore, though.
Caroline’s Easter Basket
What a great excuse to do a little shopping, right? I kept Caroline’s Easter basket very simple with four items, two of which are very functional. Her basket included a Jellycat pink rabbit (Nordstrom had them 20% off), a pair of Posh Peanut two-piece pajamas, My First Bible Stories, and a pair of Native Jeffersons. I have seen the Native sneakers on so many toddlers on the island. They’re made out of a Croc-like material, so they’re super easy to clean off, and they just slip on and off. HUGE shout out to Gracie’s on The Strand. I sent them a message on their Instagram account asking which color Jeffersons they had in Caroline’s size. They sent me tons of photos! I ordered the shoes and My First Bible stories from them last week. They were going to drop my order off at my house FOR FREE. Milton and I ended up picking up lunch near The Strand, so we drove by Gracie’s and they brought our order out to the car. Amazing customer service, y’all!
Barrington Gifts Clear Pouch
Barrington Gifts is STILL offering 20% off on their website. They NEVER offer more than 15% off. My favorite purse, my current diaper bag, and my makeup bag are all from Barrington. I added the clear pouch to my collection when this promo started. I got it to match Caroline’s diaper bag. Right now I’m keeping a change of clothes for Caro in it. It is flat with a sturdy zipper. You can customize it with your initials or keep it plain. I love it.
