Baby Sampson Gender Reveal

October 11, 2018 Comments Off on Baby Sampson Gender Reveal

I feel like I have been waiting for this moment for about 19 weeks and 3 days (that’s how far along I am). Milton and I are thrilled to find out the gender, and finally give baby Sampson a pronoun rather than calling the baby “it”.  Watch the gender reveal on YouTube.

It’s A GIRL!

When Milton met me at the doctor’s office he sat down next to me in the waiting room and said to me, “Should we just find out now?” Haha, no! We’ve waited this long, what is two more days of waiting so we can share this exciting moment with friends and family.

All along I have been very anti gender reveal. Ask any of my closest friends or relatives. I wanted to find out at the doctor during the sonogram. Milton was dying to be surprised. Honestly, I think he just wanted an excuse to shoot a gun at an exploding target or hit an exploding ball. So I decided I would do this and surprise Milton. Once I caved to the idea, I was still going to be the one to find out at the doctor, and Milton would be the only one surprised. I realized that this would be such a fun moment to share with him, so I waited as well!

I didn’t make fancy invitations. I made a Facebook event and invited friends and family in the area. We all met up at Tin Cup’s Caddy Shack, a local bar with a driving range (much more fun than Top Golf if you ask me). I had the answer in an envelope from the doctor and handed it to a friend to open when it was time to place the correct golf ball on the tee.

It was such an amazing moment when Milton hit that golf ball and our friends and family reacted with a roar of excitement. If I am being honest, I was in shock that the ball exploded pink. Baby Sampson is going to be a sweet little girl. Milton had the sweetest smile on his face. I know he is going to melt right into this little girl’s heart. She is already so loved by many. I’m so thankful for all of our friends that came out to show their love. Very thankful for Brittany Viegas to take hold of the camera and capture this exciting moment.

Keep reading for some old wives’ tales and how accurate they were (or weren’t).

Old Wives Tales

Morning sickness:       Yes = girl      No = boy

I was very nauseous during the first trimester, but I never actually got sick. I guess that makes my answer a “no”.

Baby’s heart rate:        Above 140 = girl   Below 140 = boy

At my 16 week appointment baby’s heart rate measured at 157 bpm, but at my 19 week sonogram this week baby measured at 140 bpm.

Skin:     Breakouts = girl      Clear & Glowing = boy

Holy puberty, what are these hormones doing to my skin. I have had acne on my face, chest, and back so far. They say this is a baby girl stealing your beauty.

Food cravings:     Sweet = girl     Salty = boy

Give me all of the donuts and candy. However, I’ve always had a sweet tooth, especially in the morning (I grew up on pancakes and waffles).

Chinese Birth Chart: Boy

Mom’s intuition: Boy

Ring on a string test: Boy
