I want to introduce you to the town that I now call home. The town that my husband was born and raised in. The town that I visited for summer vacation as a teen. The town that I will eventually raise my family in.

When we first met, my husband was very quick to tell me that he was from Galveston. He is BOI (born on the island) and pretty damn proud of it, as he should be! Galveston is home to University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), the beautiful Moody Gardens, The Strand Historic District (more commonly known as “The Strand”), and is one of the most historical towns in Texas. Galveston is home to the first post office, the first opera house and more.

Milton brought me to Galveston for the first time about two months into dating. I remember driving in from Austin and not stopping once along the way. I was so excited to see him (because we were dating long distance) and was ready to get some serious sun that weekend. As soon as I got there he took me to the beach, which was awesome, but I had to pee so bad! Haha, sorry for the TMI. I even remember the exact maxi skirt and a tank top that I wore. I’m pretty sure they’re still in my closet. Just one of those outfits you can’t let go of. Milton and I were walking along the beach and a lady told me I looked like a mermaid.  Ok, I like these people! Who doesn’t want to be called a mermaid?!

Since then Milton’s work has taken him to Houston, Austin, and now back to Galveston.  We did not expect to make the move to Galveston so soon, but we are happy to be in our final destination. Since I’ve made my way down to the island I think I have spent most mornings jogging on the beach, and I don’t hate it.

I think this move to Galveston is just what Cait and Co. Blog needed! Sure, Austin seems like the ideal town to blog in with the most picturesque outdoor areas and eateries, but you don’t need one more gal telling you where the best tacos are.You can definitely expect to see more posts about Galveston! I plan on sharing my favorite restaurants, spots to shop, tips for beach days, and so much more. Maybe I can convince some of you to come down and visit for a while!
