Here I am again. Slowly getting back into that 9 to 5 groove. I do miss having my morning coffee on the couch, but I’m finally getting that structure to my day that I’ve been craving. My days of daytime television are officially gone. It has been a hard time adjusting to mornings without Kelly and Ryan, but I’m getting through it. JK! I’ve been doing just fine, but I’m sad that I can’t have my coffee with them anymore. You’re probably wanting to tell me to record it and watch it on my free time. Well…the Sampson’s don’t have DVR so that’s not an option.

This week has been my first full week at work, and so far so good! I am so #blessed to only have a 10 minute commute to work, but somehow I’ve managed to only eat cookies for breakfast this morning. Not because I’m in a hurry, but because they’re so good that I forget to microwave my breakfast sandwich. That changes tomorrow because my stomach has been growling for lunch as early at 9:45 in the morning. Going back to work has challenged my typical eating pattern, but not in a bad way! Right out of college I worked in an office setting. My coworkers and I all studied nutrition in college so each one of us would bring our lunch. I know that is not typical, but it engrained a great habit for me! Yes, it takes a bit of planning and time management at the beginning of the week to meal prep and such, but it is one less thing to have to think about each morning before I walk out of the door. One of my favorite things to bring for lunch is chicken with rice, vegetables, salsa, and avocado. I share how to prep it here.

Something else that I’m being forced to adjust: my workout schedule. Bye Bye mid-day jogs along the beach. I haven’t found my groove yet, but I know I will get there soon. I didn’t feel like driving up to the seawall today to run, so I changed clothes after work and did 100 squats, lunges, push ups, and crunches while tidying up the apartment between sets (I did 5 sets of 20). I actually broke a sweat! It felt good to just move even though it wasn’t a super long jog or intense sweat session at the gym. I don’t even have a gym membership right now, and I probably won’t be getting one any time soon. I don’t mind doing body weight stuff in my apartment or hopping over to the complex’s gym.

One of my goals with this new employment is keeping the apartment clean. I have this theory that with Milton and I both being out of the apartment more that it will stay cleaner than it did before. That might be a little hopeful, but a girl can dream. I do what I can to load the dishwasher each night and put away clean and dirty clothes to keep the clutter to a minimum. Milton has been really understanding about my desire to keep this place nice and he’s been helping a lot in his free time. When he was working and I was blogging full time I took care of the household chores like cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. We are jumping right back into making it a team effort like it was before. He’s so awesome.

You know what I have noticed in the mere 7 days that I’ve been working on the blog less…Insta followers be dropping like cray. That’s fine, though. If you follow me because you like my stuff and then decide it’s not for you, that is cool! Don’t wast your time scrolling through my stuff. But this Insta algorithm is just killing me y’all! I’m sick of this social media game of “pay to be seen”. Word on the street is there’s a new app called Vero that is straight forward social media like we used to know. No algorithm or bs, just posts from the people you follow when they post it. Can I get an Amen?! I’ve joined but have yet to share my first post. Quite frankly, I have no idea what I’m doing on there and I’m busy with life right now.

I was thinking about the blog yesterday and what the purpose of one really is. It’s essentially public diary (which is kind of weird but cool at the same time). I have found that most readers don’t care for the posts about sales or new styles, but really enjoy the candid posts that share real stuff that I am experiencing. With my new job my time to create posts is limited, so I am going to try to focus on stuff worth reading! If there’s anything you’d like to see or hear more about please share! The comments are open, y’all.
